OUR TEAM

Dr. Shirly (Shalu) Ramchandani

Welcome,

My name is Shirly Ramchandani (MD, CHWC)

I did my medical residency training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after graduating with a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

During my twenty-year career in primary care, I had the opportunity to manage many patients with obesity and related complications. The rising prevalence of adult obesity and the misconceptions about this complex disease, led me to pursue a board certification in Obesity Medicine. Additionally, in order to be the clinician that is a catalyst for change, I also became certified as a Health and Wellness Coach and a Culinary Coach.

While caring for my chronic disease patients, I incorporated various lifestyle medicine elements into my practice such as pioneering shared medical appointments, group runs and mindfulness classes. I realized that lifestyle and preventative medicine was the greatest tool to help my patients reverse chronic disease. Understanding fully that “One Size does NOT fit all”, I use a  holistic model of patient care, creating  personalized programs to help patients reach their optimal health goals.

I have successfully helped many patients adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles that incorporate exercise, nutrition, and living life mindfully. My passion is to help my patients  improve their health and achieve greater life satisfaction and well-being, not to mention treat and sometimes even reverse their disease.

On our journey together, we will explore many factors and habits that may be impacting your health negatively, and develop a sustainable program to make lasting and sustainable positive changes.

Currently, I spend part of my clinical time at Benson Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine and am an instructor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.  I am also on faculty, CHEF Coaching Program, Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

Michaela Olivier

(RN, C-NP)

I have been a practicing RN since 2011 and obtained a Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Simmons University in 2022. As an RN I spent many years working as Dr Ramchandani's nurse in primary care.  I share Dr Ramchandani’s passion for lifestyle medicine and am fortunate to be practicing alongside her again. I have dedicated most of my career to management of chronic cardiometabolic conditions including overweight/obesity, type 2 diabetes, and hypertension. I am drawn to this area of healthcare because it is highly individualized and requires a collaborative patient-provider relationship. I found myself particularly interested in Obesity Medicine so entered into specialty practice in 2021. I have loved building relationships with patients and helping them identify their unique health goals. Together we create personalized and sustainable lifestyle interventions that support improved health and wellness.

I also spend part of my clinical time as a Nurse Practitioner in Gastroenterology and Hepatology where I work with patients to manage chronic conditions that impact the digestive system.
